Many patients don’t realize how vital periodontal or gum health is, and how much this can affect your overall oral health and wellness. Our team’s goal is to provide the highest-quality, most effective treatment for all forms and stages of periodontal disease.
What Is Periodontal Therapy?
Periodontal disease is a very common, yet very serious oral health disease. Patients with periodontal disease or gum disease must be treated as soon as possible to prevent more severe damage to their health in the future. At Minnesota Periodontal Associates, we are committed to providing effective care and treatment for all stages of periodontal disease, using proven, advanced techniques tailored to each patient’s needs.
Periodontal therapy is an umbrella term for various procedures and treatments that you may need to undergo. These types of treatments are extremely important in helping you to restore your gums and teeth, remove all signs of infection and disease and prevent future tooth loss and other serious health issues. These types of therapies can include both surgical and non-surgical treatments, depending on both the severity and stage of your periodontal disease. Dr. Connie Lee will work with you to determine the best treatment option for your and your oral health.
Surgical vs. Non-Surgical Therapy
The type of therapy recommended for each patient is based on the condition of the gums and supporting structures. Some individuals may benefit from surgical therapy when deeper levels of care are needed to improve gum health and support long-term stability. Surgical treatments may include gum grafting, flap surgery, or dental implants, among others, depending on your specific needs.
Non-surgical therapies include periodontal maintenance, scaling and root planing, otherwise known a deep cleaning.
